Gem-Set Chinese Porcelain for Turkish Market

Designer’s concept
“Inspired by the fragility of the Chinese porcelain and toughness of the gilt metal, I designed this capsule collection to combine these two contrasting elements.
I first created a modern print interpreted from the flowers and insect prints found inside the bowl, and exposed the porcelain image underneath this print to imitate the artisans’ unexpected act of setting gemstones onto the bowl’s exterior. Following the bowl’s intriguing and unique composition, the collection features reconstructed prints and surprising elements of functional hardware against soft fabrics.” – PAULINE.NING

PAULINE.NING presents A/W2012 ‘PORSELEN’ done in collaboration with IEX Asian Heritage. Inspired by a bejeweled Chinese porcelain bowl with Turkish origins, the colour palette for this collection is predominantly black and white. Accents of gold foiling on organza, brass elements and prints made in the likeness of porcelain are replete in this collection.
